A finished PEB shed looks simple: columns, roof, walls. Behind that simplicity is a coordinated system where each member has a defined structural role. Whether you are a buyer, consultant, or site engineer, understanding PEB structure components helps you review drawings, compare PEB manufacturers, and avoid costly scope gaps.
Primary Framing — The Main Load Path
Rigid portal frames (columns + rafters) carry roof and wall loads to foundations. In pre-engineered buildings, these are usually built-up tapered sections—heavier at haunches, lighter at mid-span—optimizing steel weight. Connections to foundations are via anchor bolts cast in concrete pedestals designed from reactions provided by the steel supplier.
Secondary Framing — Purlins, Girts, Eave Struts
Cold-formed Z or C sections span between primary frames to support cladding. Purlins on the roof and girts on walls also brace the primary frame against twist and buckling. Spacing follows panel span and wind suction requirements—not arbitrary rules of thumb.
Bracing Systems
Rod bracing, angle bracing, or portal frames in end bays resist longitudinal wind and crane forces. Missing or undersized bracing is a common cause of “mystery” sway or serviceability complaints—always check bracing layouts on GA drawings.
Cladding — Roof and Wall Envelope
Galvalume colour-coated sheets are standard for industrial PEB buildings. Insulated sandwich panels add thermal performance for cold storage or comfort cooling. Fixings, sealants, and ridge details determine monsoon performance as much as frame strength.
Crane and Mezzanine Integration
EOT crane runway beams, bumper stops, and column brackets must be modeled with the frame—not welded on site without calculation. Mezzanine decks impose point and line loads; stair and lift cores need lateral stability ties back to the main structure.
Accessories That Complete the System
- Turbo ventilators and ridge vents for heat exhaust
- FRP skylights for daylight (with fire and leakage detailing)
- Gutters, downpipes, and drip angles for rainwater management
- Canopies, louvers, and personnel doors
How Components Work Together in PEB Construction
During PEB construction, erection sequence matters: frames plumb and aligned first, bracing installed before heavy cladding, torque on bolts per specification. Because holes are CNC-drilled in the factory, crews should not need field flame-cutting for fit-up—if they do, question fabrication QA.
Review Checklist for Buyers
When you receive drawings, confirm: member sizes, bracing locations, cladding fixings, crane reactions, and expansion joint philosophy. Anaisha PEB supplies coordinated packages so your civil, MEP, and insulation trades interface cleanly with the PEB building shell.
